Foothills Forum is a nationally recognized nonprofit news organization based in rural Rappahannock County, Virginia. Our accomplished reporters, photographers and graphic artists produce award-winning journalism that supplements the news coverage of the short-staffed Rappahannock News and other area news outlets.

As we mark our 10th anniversary, we have expanded and are seeking a part-time employee to help us continue to grow.

Job Title

Development Coordinator

Position Summary

Foothills Forum seeks a part-time employee to play a coordinating role in managing our fundraising and performing related administrative tasks.

The work can be performed remotely, with periodic in-person meetings and tasks.

Reporting Structure

This person will report to the Foothills Forum executive director while working closely with the organization’s board chair, treasurer and chair of its Fundraising Committee.

Job Responsibilities

 The principal duties include:

– Mastering and maintaining our DonorPerfect database of contributors providing gift entry, producing fundraising
reports, and assisting in developing engagement and retention strategies.

– Recording donations using QuickBooks accounting software.
– Implementing stewardship activities for existing donors including thank you letters and gift receipts.
– Helping to plan and execute annual fundraising campaigns and special events (2-3 a year).
– Helping to establish annual fundraising projections.
– Organizing and participating in monthly Fundraising Committee meetings, including setting up electronic scheduling
and draft agenda preparation.

– Archiving (via Dropbox) all important Foothills Forum documents.
– Other duties as required.

Essential & Preferred Job Qualifications

Candidates must be detail-oriented with exemplary organizational and time management skills.

Candidates must be committed to discretion as they are working with confidential information.

Preferred qualifications include experience or an interest in fundraising, as well as experience with customer relationship management or financial databases.

Compensation Range

$9,000 – $12,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This position holds the potential for growth in compensation.

Hours

This is a part-time, hourly contractual position. On balance, the successful candidate should expect on average 8 hours a week/30 hours a month with more intense engagement during some times of the year.

Employment Duration

There is no definite term, but the initial contract is for one year.

Start Date

Flexible, but no later than January 1, 2025.
